Under the strategic initiative of Atlas Aviation and Sepehr Talaei Pars Holding, a high-ranking Iranian delegation, led by Dr. Reza Masrour (Secretary of the High Council of Free Trade-Industrial and Special Economic Zones) and accompanied by Javad Rajabi (CEO of Sepehr Talaei Pars Holding), traveled to the Republic of Dagestan, Russian Federation, aboard an Atlas Air RJ85 aircraft.

Upon arrival at Makhachkala International Airport, the Iranian delegation was officially welcomed by senior Dagestani officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy, and the Managing Director of the airport.

Focus of Negotiations: Strengthening Transportation and Economic Ties

The high-level meetings focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in air cargo and passenger transportation, increasing economic exchange between the free zones of Iran and Dagestan, and exploring opportunities for Iranian airlines to participate in domestic flight operations within Russian territory.

As part of the operational phase of this mission, an Atlas Air Antonov AN-26 freighter was dispatched to Makhachkala. Furthermore, Atlas Aviation formally proposed the establishment of direct passenger routes connecting Rasht and Kish Island to Dagestan.

Regional Capacity Building in the Russian Market

During the negotiations, officials from both countries’ free zones emphasized the strategic importance of transit, port, and economic capacities. They highlighted the necessity for greater synergy to jointly exploit opportunities in logistics, trade, and aviation.

A key highlight of the visit was the special focus on the potential participation of Iranian airlines in the domestic passenger transport market within the Russian Federation. This move is seen as a significant step toward a broader Iranian presence in the regional aviation network.

The Strategic Role of Atlas Aviation

With a versatile fleet of cargo and passenger aircraft, Atlas Aviation has solidified its position as a key player in regional air transportation and transit. By actively participating in international missions such as this visit to Dagestan, the company aligns its operational capabilities with the economic diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, playing a vital role in connecting the country to emerging regional markets.
